The dancer and choreographer Andrea Herdeg lives and works in Zurich and Locarno. Her professional training includes both dance and theatre. She trained at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri and the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance London (UK). Since 1999 she has been working as an independent artist in contemporary dance and dance theatre. In 2002 she founded, together with pianist André Desponds, the herdeg&desponds company (Zurich), creating performances that blend music, dance and theatre. As a dancer she has worked in companies in England, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. She is often invited to do choreography for theatre and site-specific productions such as the opening of the Gotthard-Basistunnel in 2016 with director Volker Hesse. She is a guest lecturer at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ZHdK and has taught at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri since 2003.
