I lie to the paper and then I can’t stand to look at myself in the mirror

I turn my eyelids into fluttering hummingbirds trying to erase the red in my eyes

I paint my skin brown,

I want to erase my face, I want to forget of my existence

This being no longer has a name or identity

I am neither man nor woman

I’m not a bird nor an elephant

I’m a liar playing the innocent to fulfil the expectations of who I’ve believed myself to be

I’m tired of being,

I’m tired of pretending to be who I think I am.
