The course is aimed at anyone interested in physical theatre, mime, visual comedy and body expression in general. We will experiment with ‘classic’ mime techniques such as creating invisible objects, isolations, fixed point, walking in place, against the wind, in slow motion… We will explore a physicality based on the authenticity of our physical sensations as a basis for moving towards exaggeration and thus making mime more playful and eccentric. In a second phase we will discover the universe of cartoons and the different ways of making the body elastic and malleable to all possibilities.
We will work on the various qualities that can be given to an action or a gesture and then move on to the relaxation of the torso, the body being manipulated by an external force or an object. We will also discuss other techniques that allow us to create as many body illusions as possible borrowed from dance or anthropomorphism.
Thus, with our pockets full of all these ‘tools’, we will be able to play, improvise, shape space, shape ourselves, create according to our desires and make our invisible inner world visible.
