Richard Weber – My forty years in Verscio
At the end of June, the Accademia Dimitri successfully published a book about its co-founder Richard Weber and his work.
The book “Richard Weber. My Forty Years in Verscio” consists of a long interview curated by Sara Bocchini, in which the actor, mime and choreographer Richard Weber recounts his artistic and human journey.
Sipping a cup of coffee, recalling anecdotes, meetings and conversations with liveliness and lightness, Richard Weber takes the reader by the hand and accompanies him on a journey through time: from his beginnings as a make-up artist in Prague’s film studios, to his career as a mime artist in the Theatre on the Balustrade; from his meeting with Dimitri, to his decision to create a theatre school together; from the early years of the school in Verscio to the present day, through the stages that have marked the development of the pedagogy of the movement theatre.
The interview is enriched by a selection of images from Richard’s archive, which document both his career as an actor and moments from the life of the Academy.
Forty years after the founding of the Accademia Dimitri, in the words of Richard Weber, the curiosity, dedication and adventurous spirit that have accompanied him throughout his life dedicated to the theatre remain intact. Thus, between the lines, the portrait of an artist and master of magnificent imagination emerges, whose enthusiasm for teaching and passion for the profession have deeply inspired the development of the Academy.
