Lukas Roth

Lukas Roth was born in Zurich in 1973, learned to walk and ended up via street theater at Zirkus Chnopf, which he helped to shape for several years. He performed in varietés and with Kompanie Kopfstand for young audiences. Together with friends, he founded the travelling theater «Theater Café Roulotte», organized and supported various festivals, and opened free spaces for art and culture. Meanwhile also as artistic director of the Hinterhalt Festival. With the play «dot. ein stück weit über leben» in 2009, he got into the haze of figure and object theater, which shaped his further work. Since 2014, he created a wide variety of plays with the «Duo MeierMoser und der Huber» and with «DAKAR-Produktion». With the Hochhinaus collective, he explores the possibilities of collaborative creativity and artistic interventions. He is a specialized all-rounder who does not fit into any pigeonhole. 2017, he was honored with the Art Prize of the City of Uster for his multifaceted work and commitment.
