Introduction
The Accademia Teatro Dimitri offers the third edition of the CAS Performing Arts and Inclusion, this time in collaboration with the Bern University of the Arts (HKB). The CAS brings together artists, performers, and professionals from the social and healthcare sectors — with and without disabilities — with the aim of deepening reflections, expanding artistic skills, and adopting an inclusive approach within the performing arts. A distinctive feature of the programme is the presence of lecturers with disabilities, making inclusion a tangible reality rather than just a theoretical concept.
Genesis
The CAS Performing Arts and Inclusion arises from the need to consider diversity as a source of wealth, and offers an opportunity to explore new forms of individual and collective creation. The CAS continues the discourse and practices introduced with the research and training project “DisAbility on Stage / Disabled Bodies in Discourse”, dedicated to the theme of disability in contemporary performance practices, as well as in programs of study at universities of applied science.
To whom it is addressed
The course is aimed at:
-
Artists in the performing arts (music, theatre, dance).
-
Professionals from the social and healthcare sectors.
-
Performers with and without disabilities.
-
Professionals with relevant experience interested in developing inclusive practices within the artistic context.
Admission requirements
The practical-theoretical training course consists of didactic modules divided into three thematic macro areas. The first delivers the tools of an alternative and uncoded method, useful for creating artistic products in inclusive contexts (devising). The second concerns the presentation and research of different methodologies of individual and collective creation (creating). The third is aimed at the analysis of artistic content and the acquisition of planning and organizational elements for the management and distribution of a product/project in the field of inclusive performing arts (producing arts).
Learning objectives
By the end of the CAS, participants will be able to:
-
Reflect on their professional identity and develop a personal artistic profile.
-
Expand their knowledge of inclusion and apply participatory and interdisciplinary methodologies.
-
Experiment with and integrate acquired knowledge in a joint artistic project transferable to future initiatives.
Methodology and content
The programme is based on:
-
Interactive lessons and participant discussions
-
Development of artistic sequences through dialogue and shared practice
-
Self-learning, individual preparation, and documentation
-
Creation of a final artistic project as a competency demonstration
Teaching values interdisciplinarity and actively involves lecturers with and without disabilities.
