Colette Roy

Colette Roy-Gfeller, a native of Schaffhausen, completed her training at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Verscio and subsequently studied and specialised in mask making with Richard Weber, Donato Sartori and Erhard Stiefel. She is currently responsible for the courses in mask making and mask performance at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri and works as a freelance artist in various forms of physical theatre.

She has taken part in numerous productions as both an actress and a dancer. She has also directed and choreographed several theatre and dance productions, including Der gelbe Klang by Wassily Kandinsky, Variété (2018) at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri, and Jour de fête for Circo Monti (2019).

For several years, she has also collaborated with choirs, transforming musical works into staged performances, for example with the Kanti Schaffhausen Chamber Choir in St. Nicolas by Benjamin Britten and in the opera Die schwarze Spinne by Heinrich Sutermeister.

She has also collaborated on several productions with the Salto Corale choir, including Italienische Reise, An Irish Quilt, Nordland and Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

She regularly works with the Clairière Choir, the children’s choir of the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, on productions such as Cabaret, The Three Musketeers and Brundibár by Hans Krása.

With the aim of developing new theatrical works and putting her experience to use, she founded her own theatre company, Compagnia Teatro Daruma, in 2012, with which she has produced several performances.
