
Demis Quadri
Professor of Research and Teaching in Physical Theatre, Head of Research and Service Performance
He holds a degree in Italian Language and Literature, Romance Philology, and Ethnology from the University of Fribourg.
He holds a double doctorate in Italian Language and Literature and in Theater Studies from the Universities of Fribourg and Bern. In the 2006/07 academic year, he was a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome. From 2005 to 2009, he collaborated on a research project on commedia dell'arte with the Institute of Theater Studies in Bern. In 2010, he collaborated on several teaching modules with the Haute École de Musique in Geneva.
He participated in the publication of an edition of the seventeenth-century Scenari più scelte d'istrioni, edited by Stefan Hulfeld, which won a prize awarded by the Rectorate of the University of Vienna in 2014.
A former member of the Federal Jury of the Performing Arts (2019-25), he currently serves on the board of the Swiss Society of Theatre Studies, the board of trustees of SAPA - Swiss Archives of Performing Arts, and the MinusioCultura commission.
His main research interests include commedia dell'arte, physical theatre, and applied theatre.
He is the author, among other publications, of an article defining the term "physical theatre."
