Improvisation Teacher

The improvisation course within the study programme aims to develop:

  • Acting skills: interpretation techniques that explore the fundamental rules of theatrical play, such as stage presence, character creation, and physical and verbal transformation (in a multilingual environment);

  • Skills in dramatic creation: the ability to develop and structure an original, coherent, and organic dramaturgy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching improvisation in the Bachelor programme from the 2nd to the 5th semester.

  • Responsibility for the “Improvisation” module in the Bachelor programme.

  • Participation in all on-campus activities (presentations, meetings, exams, assessments, etc.).

  • Managing teaching materials for the “Improvisation” module.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive professional experience in the performing arts and solid knowledge of contemporary theatre practices.

  • Significant experience in teaching theatrical improvisation, preferably in a Bachelor programme, and proven multi-year experience as a trainer in Physical Theatre and theatrical creation.

  • A theatre training diploma or equivalent professional experience.

  • Ability to design, prepare, and organise theatre projects intended for public presentation.

  • Strong teamwork skills.

  • Language skills: Italian and English. Knowledge of German and French is welcome.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The workplace is at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri campuses in Verscio and Avegno (Ticino, Switzerland).
Preferably, the candidate should be willing to relocate to Ticino.

    • Key influences from theatre masters or specific techniques on one’s own work

    • Proposed ways of integrating the improvisation course with the other subjects taught at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri

  • Complete CV in Italian or English with a recent photo

  • Educational diplomas and work certificates

  • Two recent reference letters attesting to professional and teaching quality

  • Criminal record extract valid for 6 months. For Swiss citizens and foreign residents, the criminal record extract can be requested from the Federal Office of Justice in Bern at www.casellario.admin.ch.
