Clown entrées: play as a scenic language

The clown is presence, listening, and relationship. It is the place where the body becomes an essential expressive instrument and where mistakes turn into possibilities. With Clown entrées, the second-year students of the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Class Unakite, present a significant milestone in their training at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri.

The entrées are short personal creations that emerge from in-depth work on the body, rhythm, and direct relationship with the audience. Through the language of clowning, the students explore play, vulnerability, scenic timing, and the ability to remain in the “here and now” — fundamental elements of Physical Theatre.

This presentation is the result of a research process that places scenic presence and listening at its core: listening to oneself, to others, and to the space. Each entrée thus becomes a small universe, where comedy and poetry, lightness and precision, silence and action coexist.

Clown entrées is not only a presentation for the audience, but also a moment of sharing the artistic and pedagogical process that characterizes the training at the Accademia Teatro Dimitri. An opportunity to approach the art of clowning and discover how the body, in its simplicity, can communicate in a direct and profound way.
