🎭 Commedia dell’Arte and Clowning – Bachelor of Arts in Theatre

Commedia dell’Arte and Clowning represent two complementary poles of the theatrical tradition: on the one hand, the codified masks, typical characters, improvisations, and scenarios that have crossed centuries; on the other, the fragility and uniqueness of the clown, who brings their own ridiculousness and poetry to the stage.

Within the training at Accademia Dimitri, these two languages are explored and intertwined, offering third-year students fertile ground to play with expressiveness, comedy, and theatrical invention.

From the encounter between tradition and personal research arise characters that are funny, delicate, exaggerated, or surreal—able to surprise and entertain, but also to touch intimate and unexpected chords.

The presentation Commedia dell’Arte and Clowning, curated by Emmanuel Pouilly and Gianni Coluzzi, is an invitation to discover how lightness, laughter, and poetry can emerge from a single theatrical gesture.
