the future is now

The Theaterfestival 'the future is now' returns from 3 to 5 May 2024 with an expanded and promising second edition!

This year, Lucerne Theatre and Südpol Lucerne are joining forces to organise the event, promising an exceptional collaboration.

The Accademia Dimitri joins forces for the first time with the prestigious Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB) and Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) to present six projects. Each project will be followed by a stimulating discussion with the artists themselves, offering an unparalleled opportunity to explore the creative minds of tomorrow.

The evenings will culminate in moments of sharing and celebration at the Südpol in Lucerne, where you will have the opportunity to meet the festival participants on Friday evening and celebrate with them at the Südpol club on Saturday.

Representing the Accademia Dimitri will be: Bejo Christen (second year Bachelor) and Laila Ponader, Tim Frey and Willi Honwald (first year Bachelor)

Also on the programme is the performance Boxlife, by and with Matilda Fatur (alumna), Nikolas Stocker and Nikolas Strubbe (Master's students) - aka: Their Unparalleled Majesties' Grand Royal Tabletop Theatre Company

Saturday 4 May, 15.00 - 15.55

In Boxlife we meet three characters who are sad, naive and deceptive at the same time. Together, the clown-like figures struggle sometimes with each other, sometimes with their inner emptiness. In their play, they create strange new worlds, bring objects to life and fill the void with surprising magic. Without words, using only their poetic presence and perfectly timed comedy, they manage to tell a touching story about loss and grief.
