The Research sector of the Dimitri Academy has inaugurated a series of publications intended to present and explore the various subjects taught at the academic site, which together are an expression of its distinctiveness and excellence.
The series brings together a series of small, nimble volumes, designed to slip into a jacket pocket or purse, intended as much for male and female students as for artists/performers on the scene.
The second volume, edited by Veronica Provenzale and Demis Quadri, is devoted to clowns and clownish entrances.
Since the beginnings of the Dimitri Theater School in Verscio, the creation of comic scenes has had a fixed place in the training course, and over the years the disciplines related to the world of clowns, thanks in part to Dimitri's teaching, have undergone developments and approaches that are quite specific and peculiar.
Through studies and testimonies of researchers, artists and performers active in the field, this small volume offers the opportunity to learn how this fascinating discipline was born and developed, opening up not only to the study of clowning and comic effects but also to the historical "Clownesque Entrances," and to understand the horizons with which it dialogues and confronts today. From the most famous clowns, Maïss, Grock, Marceau and Dimitri himself, to the Augustus, White Clown and bouffonnes, a story brimming with life and comedy.
