Carmen Raffaela Küster

ReANIMA – or 'dying to be alive'
a circus and physical theatre show on different perspectives on the dying process.
" I am part of the earth, which rises and walks. And I will lie down again when death comes. I will be reabsorbed into the earth, grateful to have been part of this miracle—called life. " Lemi Ponifasio
The performance explores radical physical transformations. The setting recalls an amusement park, specifically a "Schiffschaukel," a rocking boat typical of Northern Europe. The boat evokes images of the ferryman Charon in the afterlife.
How to prepare for the process of dying, the journey to the afterlife?
Aren't we faced with small deaths every day? And how can we use these occasions as rehearsals for the ultimate transformation—the 'end'?
Is there a definitive end or does this always imply a new beginning?
What if we considered dying as a continuous process, parallel to living?
