Alessandra Lauriola

MA - Cimetta Year

I was born and brought up in northern Italy, in the province of Mantua.

I first became involved in theatre at the age of eleven; I didn’t think I’d become an actress – I simply enjoyed watching films of all kinds.

I mainly studied spoken theatre during my teenage years, only to realise, once I started university, that that world wasn’t for me.

Having always been drawn to the physical aspects of theatre, I first explored physical theatre and subsequently puppetry, with a particular focus on object and material theatre.

After attending the ‘Animateria’ training course for expert animators in the physical and digital languages of puppetry at the Teatro Gioco Vita in Piacenza, Italy, I decided to look for a university programme that combined physical theatre and puppetry, which is how I ended up in Switzerland, studying for a Master’s in Theatre Arts at the Accademia Dimitri.
