Lina Gessner

Lina Gessner discovered acting at the age of eleven. She instantly knew, this was what she wanted to do for life. Ever since she has collected experience through Fahr.Werk.ö! and other projects in different places all around Switzerland. During ten years she participated multiple times in vacation-camps of Fahr.Werk.ö!, creating roles and plays with the given scenery of the different places they stayed in. An old hangar, a Park, a hotel or an old armory; Fahr.Werk.ö! uses the space as it is given, and stages places usually not used for theater. The actresses and actors live in caravans together during the project which creates strong bonds. Lina got to know many most interesting and lovely people in this circle and still cherishes these connections not only privately but also for art and creation.

In 2024 she was cast for an intensive youth theatre production of the LAB Junges Theater Zürich. Together with three other young amateurs and Annina Dullin as director they staged the piece 'Gossips' written by Eva Rottman. This play, originally written for young people, addresses friendship breakups and how society treats love partners and friendships very differently. It premiered in Zürich and was able to go on tour in different swiss cities as well as theatre festivals like Fanfaluca, Jungspund and Augenauf.
In the same year she also participated in 'Niemand war schon immer da', an intercultural travelling theatre performance throughout the landscape and streets of Glarus. It addressed the subjects of fleeing, passing through, staying, origin, tradition and immigration.

Parallel to her interest in theatre, she started music at a young age. First learning the violin she later switched to viola and played in various formations, from solo to orchestra and from folk to classical music.
Occasionally she also got to explore the world of theatre music, writing an adaptation and composing the music for her Matura thesis theatre piece 'Frau Helbing und der Tote Fagottist' by the book of Eberhard Michaely.
With the studies at the Accademia Dimirti Lina Gessner wants to explore storytelling and art creation through body language and deepen her acting knowledge and abilities. Pantomime and theater without words fascinate her and she is keen to learn, make progress and develop abilities in this field.
