Raquel Haas

Year Smeraldo

Raquel Haas was born in Liestal in 2001. After practicing various sports such as tennis, handball, swimming, kickboxing, and gymnastics, she was captivated by dance. This marked the beginning of her journey in the Swiss Jazz Dance Championships, both in groups and solo. She vividly remembers her first moments on stage, particularly the lights, the adrenaline, and the atmosphere of the performance space. After participating in several competitions and dancing for 12 years in various styles such as hip hop, jazz, and contemporary, Raquel realized that she wanted to delve deeper into the art of movement creation and improvisation. Since childhood, she has always played an instrument, including the flute, clarinet, and guitar. Over the years, she has reconnected with her Bolivian roots through music and is currently learning to play the charango and quena. Before starting at the Accademia Dimitri, she attended a preparatory school for visual arts. She found herself having to choose between the artistic world painted with a brush and the one created through the body. After feeling her heart dance, roll, and jump, the decision was made. The path of creativity, movement, discovering the potential of the voice, and the power of theater took shape in Verscio. For Raquel, studying Physical Theater is a liberation, a challenge, a continuous love affair with her own weaknesses and fears, a process of knowing, growing, and pure joy. She is very grateful to be at the Accademia Dimitri because she feels the connections and awareness of her body, mind, and heart. Being conscious of all these ties and the possibility of playful presence inspires her infinitely. Raquel’s driving force is curiosity and the desire to discover new worlds.
