Tim Frey

Born in Freiburg (Germany), Tim began breakdancing at the age of eleven—not simply as a hobby, but driven by an inner need to express himself. Movement became his primary language, a tool for giving form to what cannot be easily put into words. Before embarking on his theatrical journey, he trained and worked in the crafts sector, working with wood, metal, and paint. From this experience, he developed a concrete understanding of tools, the strength of materials, and structural logic. This background continues to influence his artistic approach: in his performances, he consciously constructs the space with a scenographic eye, treating objects as active elements of the action. Tim’s work is physical, direct, and risk-conscious. His performances arise from the tension between control and surrender, precision and instinct. Words underpin the work, but the body remains at its core. In his final project, he combines craftsmanship with physical intensity, developing a visually defined performative language in which space, body, and matter interact as equal partners.
