Demis Quadri joins the Swiss Cultural Mediation Committee

We are delighted to announce that Professor and researcher Demis Quadri has joined the Swiss Cultural Mediation Committee, alongside Pagina Sigrist, an expert in culture and social participation, and Isabella Lenzo Massei, head of cultural mediation at LAC Lugano.

For the first time in the Committee’s history, two representatives from Ticino are sitting on the Committee: a significant achievement that strengthens Italian-speaking Switzerland’s presence within the body and will help to foster dialogue and collaboration between the country’s various cultural communities, with positive repercussions for Ticino’s cultural scene as well.

Demis Quadri graduated with a degree in Italian Language and Literature, Romance Philology and Ethnology from the University of Fribourg. He subsequently obtained a joint PhD in Italian Language and Literature and Theatre Studies from the Universities of Fribourg and Bern.

During the 2006/2007 academic year, he was a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome. Between 2005 and 2009, he collaborated on a research project on the Commedia dell’arte at the Institute of Theatre Studies at the University of Bern. In 2010, he also collaborated with the Haute école de musique in Geneva, coordinating a number of teaching modules.

He contributed to the publication of the edition of *Scenari più scelti d’istrioni*, a 17th-century collection edited by Stefan Hulfeld, which was awarded a prize by the Rectorate of the University of Vienna in 2014.

Already a member of the Federal Jury for the Performing Arts (2019–2025), he currently sits on the executive committee of the Swiss Society for Theatre Studies, the Board of Trustees of SAPA – the Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts, and the MinusioCultura committee.

His research focuses primarily on the Commedia dell’arte, physical theatre and applied theatre. He is the author of numerous academic publications, including a paper on the definition of the concept of physical theatre.
