What do eggs have to do with the climate crisis? And with the body, motherhood, grief, desire? On June 4 at 8:00 p.m., at the Teatro Sociale di Bellinzona, Lana Granerud brings her Master graduation project to the stage with the performance The eggs we don’t lay ourselves, created by the Rednest collective.

Selected by Festival Territori (curated by Teatro Sociale and ZonaB) in collaboration with the Accademia Dimitri, this show is a sensitive, surreal, and provocative journey into the world of eggs:the eggs laid by the body, the ones we cook every day, the ones that will never come to life.

Three performers, affected by the ecological crisis, reflect on the meaning of human reproduction today."We are mourning the loss of non-human lives, and the eggs we will never be able to lay," they say.In the absence of shared mourning rituals, they turn to their inner birds for comfort. The result is a poetic and unsettling performance where they dance, speak, laugh… and bake a cake.

With a physical, playful, and deeply human style, Rednest – a company born between Norway, Spain, and Switzerland – blends languages, cultures, and gestures, lightly shifting from one identity to another. A theatre that begins with the body, but reaches straight to the heart and mind.

The eggs we don’t lay ourselves is a creative, political, and intimate act.A reflection on fertility, loss, and the future ahead. An experience to see, to hear, to feel.
