Call me Italy
Maria Sofia Rizzi
November 4, 1921. The body of an Italian soldier killed during the First World War is buried at the Vittoriano in Rome, in recognition of all soldiers who died for their country. Through this gesture, an ordinary man, whose identity is unknown, becomes the symbol of national identity. But what, exactly, defines the boundaries of this identity? And what does the birth of a funeral mean for a nation?
