I'm getting back in touch

Francesco Daglia

Mattia Pascal is trapped in a non-place of contemporary solitude, a limbo between life and death created by the absence of his true digital identity. How would he cope with his solitude today? Marginalization confines him to a dialogue with AI-DA, his only true interlocutor left. Who would we be today without a virtual profile? Could we say we are nonexistent to society and therefore, perhaps, dead? The protagonist initially experiences his non-existence as a liberation, but realizes that the absence of a profile would, in fact, lead him to a death not far removed from his real one. Mi rifaccio vivo aims to explore the tenuous boundary between solitude and death, normalizing the desire for it and updating a character who presents numerous parallels with current events.
