Spielend Deutsch! Living German through Theatre

A creative workshop for learning through play

Spielend Deutsch! Living German through Theatre

"Spielend Deutsch!"—conceived as a workshop for learning through play—is an innovative project that offers an early and creative introduction to the German language through theatre. Designed for primary school children, the workshop provides, within an extracurricular framework, a safe and stimulating space where play, movement, and body expression pave the way for a communicative use of the language, explored through theatre and creativity.

Each session unfolds as a small theatrical journey: improvisations, voice and movement games, storytelling, and imagination become travel companions, guiding pupils through an immersive and shared experience. The experiential approach allows participants to live the German language as a means of relationship, communication, and interaction, fostering continuous discovery.

The pilot phase of “Spielend Deutsch!”, which represents the first step of a broader and more articulated project, takes place at the Gym Hall of the Minusio Kindergarten every Monday from October 2025 to March 2026.

The project is developed by the Theatre and Education area of the Accademia Dimitri and the Department of Education and Learning/University of Teacher Education of SUPSI, in collaboration with the Minusio School Institute. It is supported by the Rivapiana Foundation and the Municipality of Minusio, and funded through the legacy of the late Peter Rüedi.
