Spielend Deutsch! Experiencing German with theatre
A creative workshop for learning through play

“Spielend Deutsch!”, understood as a workshop for learning through play, is an innovative project that proposes an early and creative approach to the German language through theatre. Designed for primary school children, the workshop offers—within an extracurricular framework—a protected and stimulating space where play, movement, and physical expression pave the way for communicative language use, explored through theatre and creativity.
Each session takes the form of a small theatrical journey: improvisation, voice and movement games, storytelling, and imagination become travel companions, guiding pupils through an immersive and shared experience. This experiential approach allows children to experience German as a means of relationship, communication, and interaction, within a framework of continuous discovery.
The pilot phase of “Spielend Deutsch!”, which represents the first step in a broader and more articulated project, takes place at the kindergarten gym of Minusio every Monday from October 2025 to March 2026.
The project is developed by the Theatre Education area of the Accademia Dimitri and the Department of Education and Learning / University of Teacher Education of SUPSI, in collaboration with the Minusio school institution. It is supported by the Rivapiana Foundation and the Municipality of Minusio, and funded through the late Peter Rüedi bequest.
