Accademia Dimitri in the Swiss pavilion at Expo Dubai 2021

The Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) approached the Accademia Dimitri with a request to consider artistic proposals for the Swiss Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2021. It was immediately decided to participate with two projects: the creation of artistic performances presented in Dubai with three Academy alumni, and the creation of "spots," short videos designed and produced by Bachelor's students.

On the one hand, there will be physical theater performances on the roof of the Swiss Pavilion by three Academy alumni Elisa di Cristofaro with a duo performed with a puppet, Dinu Corminboef with an artistic and very acrobatic performance, and Santiago Bello on stage with a very playful and joyful scene. On the other hand, 11 videos, these theatrical proposals were the result of the independent work of first and second year Bachelor students. The instructions given were to create theatrical scenes, visual metaphors for a world in which the SDGs are respected while maintaining a utopian vision. From the beginning, it was clear that these moments would be filmed by professionals and intended to be viewed on various technological media by Expo visitors. When the pandemic situation got in the way and created the need to think about how to propose content without a physical presence, the idea of the commercials proved ideal, inviting students to ask themselves many questions about the message, language, text, and set design.

Through casting, 11 projects covering 11 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were chosen by a jury. During the summer of 2021, these projects were scripted, filmed, edited, and post-produced by a team of professionals led by Swiss director Stina Werenfels.

SSPH+ expressed its strong appreciation for this project.
