Stories in Motion

“Stories in Motion” is an initiative of the Accademia Dimitri that, since 2024, combines theatre and well-being to enhance the role of older adults through theatre workshops in nursing homes and day centers. Born from the experience of the research project TeatroBenessereAnziani, it promotes encounters between different generations, offering participants a creative space to express themselves, share memories, and strengthen their social role. The workshops, led by young facilitators trained in Physical Theatre and supported by an experienced team, are based on theatrical practices that stimulate imagination, movement, and memory.

Over the coming years, the project aims to train theatre facilitators capable of bringing theatre into day and residential centers for older adults, contributing to their psycho-physical well-being and creating new professional opportunities for graduates of the Accademia Dimitri. Participants in the workshops become active protagonists, exploring gestures, storytelling, and theatre games that highlight life stories and foster an atmosphere of exchange, social connection, and joy. The project spans the entire Swiss territory, with activities already underway in Italian-speaking Switzerland (Ticino), German-speaking Switzerland (Zurich), and French-speaking Switzerland (Geneva).

“Stories in Motion” is not just a theatrical journey, but a cultural and social initiative that combats isolation, promotes autonomy, and transforms the image of older adults from passive spectators to active authors of their own stories. With the support of local and national organizations, the project aims to become a permanent service for the community, capable of generating well-being, relationships, and new perspectives for all generations involved.
