Stories in motion

"Stories in Motion" is an initiative of the Dimitri Academy that since 2024 has combined theater and wellness to enhance the role of older adults through theater workshops in retirement homes and day centers. Born from the experience of the TeatroBenessereAnziani research project, it promotes intergenerational encounters, offering participants a creative space to express themselves, share memories, and strengthen their social role. Led by young animators trained in physical theater and supported by a highly experienced team, the workshops are based on theatrical practices that stimulate imagination, movement, and memory.

Over the next few years, the project aims to train theater leaders capable of bringing theater to day and residential centers for seniors, contributing to the physical and mental well-being of older adults and creating new career opportunities for Accademia Dimitri graduates. Workshop participants become active participants, exploring gestures, narratives, and theatrical games that enhance life stories and foster a climate of exchange, sociability, and joy. The project extends throughout Switzerland, with activities already underway in Italian-speaking Switzerland (Ticino), German-speaking Switzerland (Zurich), and French-speaking Switzerland (Geneva).

"Stories in Motion" is more than just a theatrical performance; it's a cultural and social initiative that combats isolation, promotes independence, and transforms the image of the elderly from passive spectators to actors in their own stories. With the support of local and national organizations, the project aims to become a stable service for the region, capable of fostering well-being, relationships, and new perspectives for all generations involved.
