
Demis Quadri
Professor of Research and Teaching in Physical Theatre, Head of Research and Service Performance

He graduated in Italian Language and Literature, Romance Philology and Ethnology from the University of Fribourg.
He holds a double doctorate in Italian Language and Literature and Theatre Studies from the Universities of Fribourg and Bern. In the 2006/07 academic year, he was a member of the Swiss Institute in Rome. From 2005 to 2009, he collaborated on a research project on commedia dell'arte with the Institute of Theatre Studies in Bern. In 2010, he collaborated on several teaching modules with the Haute École de Musique in Geneva.
He participated in the publication of an edition of the seventeenth-century Scenari più scelte d'istrioni directed by Stefan Hulfeld and winner in 2014 of a prize awarded by the Rectorate of the University of Vienna.
Already a member of the Federal Jury of the Performing Arts (2019-25) , she is currently a member of the steering committee of the Swiss Society of Theatre Studies , of the foundation board of SAPA - Swiss Archives of the Performing Arts and of the commission of MinusioCultura .
His main research topics include commedia dell'arte, physical theatre and applied theatre.
He is the author, among other publications, of an article that aims to define the term “physical theatre” .
