𝑰𝒏 𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒐. 𝑳𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒐 𝒊 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒊 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍’𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆, 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒊𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆, a project of the Dimitri Academy, Teatro Zigoia and the skills center Educational needs, school and society (BESS) of the DFA/SUPSI, aims to strengthen cultural participation and social cohesion in the region through artistic activity, particularly theater. The project directly engages the population in artistic practice, understood as a tool for transformation and the creation of new forms of collective identity.
This project is supported by the New Us Program of the Federal Commission on Migration, which aims to strengthen cultural participation, social cohesion, and a sense of belonging in Swiss migrant society, and by the Cantonal Integration Program (PIC), which aims to promote integration measures and the involvement of the local population.

In dialogo
Summary

“In dialogo” is based on the belief that artistic activity can be an essential tool for transformation and community building within a given territory, capable of creating the conditions for the emergence of new forms of collective identity. It directly involves groups of people living in the Canton of Ticino—specifically in the Onsernone and Centovalli valleys—of different genders, ages, and backgrounds (local residents, people from other regions of Switzerland, immigrants, or individuals with migratory origins).

The approach is based on group work in “laboratories” (or ateliers), understood as collective working spaces open to sharing and experimentation. The conception and implementation of activities based on artistic practices, particularly between theatre and visual arts, foster the establishment of deep and spontaneous relationships among participants, encouraging the ability to “tell one’s story” and to cooperate toward a shared goal. Moving through the valleys and bringing different groups of people into interaction through artistic practices, the project proposes an innovative access key that enables genuine encounters between different positions and cultures, no longer comparing them but translating them into a real and productive dialogue.

Events and workshops

The project unfolds over a two-year period (2023–2024) across various locations in the Centovalli and Onsernone valleys and combines two main areas of activity:

  • The first consists of a distributed series of public events aimed at facilitating exchange and integration between workshop participants, local communities, and people who—due to professional, study-related, or tourism reasons—experience these places temporarily. The promotion of coordinated and synergic actions and events also offers an opportunity to rethink relationships between the Centovalli and Onsernone regions, as well as between urban and peripheral areas. The extensive network of partners involved in the project, together with collaborations with organizations already active in community work, provides privileged access to different communities.
  • The second consists of theatre and arts workshops, adapted to different target groups, aimed at fostering the creation of small, cohesive working groups composed of people from diverse migratory situations and cultural backgrounds, all living in the two valleys, the Locarnese area, or more broadly in the Canton of Ticino.
